Been watching Westworld after having finished Chernobyl.
Both are quite wonderful with compelling plots.
I would highly recommend them.

it might be an old show, but what goes on in it is still relevent, as it is still going on there . It is interesting to watch the character developements and different perspectives giving an inside look at what goes on behind the veil in inner city Baltomore. HBO did some great series, among them Deadwood is worth checking out, a wild west backdrop. Ofc The Sopranos, Trueblood was pretty fun. Curb Your Enthusiasm was pretty...pretty...pretty...funny 
Boardwalk Empire was pretty good, set right before the prohibition/bootlegging era of the 30's in Atlantic City. One of My favs is East Bound and Down

I am currently watching "The man in the high castle" its amazing so far though I have only watched the first season.

The Wire was very good! In particular the 4th season, and overall character building. I recall it taking a while to get into, 4-5 episodes as you say.
